Conrad Murray — Monday’s the Day … Finally
Posted Feb 5th 2010 2:32PM by TMZ Staff
The L.A. County District Attorney just said the case against Dr. Conrad Murray in the death of Michael Jackson will be filed on Monday.
As we first reported, our sources say the D.A. will file involuntary manslaughter charges against the doc.
The D.A. says information on the charges and the arraignment at Airport Court will be released after charges are filed.
The D.A. did not say if Dr. Murray will be arrested or voluntarily surrender himself in court.
Martin Bashir
NEW YORK — A bump on the head from an overhead light may have saved the life of ABC News’ Martin Bashir.
The “Nightline” anchor, best known for his interviews with Michael Jackson and the late Princess Diana, went to the hospital after hitting his head on the Times Square set of “Nightline.”
After receiving stitches, Bashir complained the next day of residual pain, prompting doctors to perform an MRI scan. There they discovered a small tumor on his pituitary gland.
According to reports, the tumor is small, and doctors currently have no plans to remove it. They will continue monitoring it regularly for any changes in growth.
Bashir has continued his normal workload as “Nightline” anchor, and a statement released by ABC News said that “Bashir is feeling well as he continues to keep a full schedule anchoring and reporting for ABC News.”
Jordan Chandler’s Father is Dead in a Possible Suicide
Jordan Chandler’s father Evan has been found dead. Jordan Chandler stated that Michael Jackson molested him in 1993, although there are rumors that Chandler admitted that he lied about the claims against Michael Jackson. There’s no proof that such admission has ever been made. Michael Jackson settled the Chandler case for a reported $20 million. The father of Jordan Chandler was found dead on November 4 at about 5:35 pm. According to Telegraph UK, the man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The case is currently being handled as a suicide. Reports indicate that no suicide note was left. Evan Chandler was formerly a dentist.
Jordan Chandler is now 29 years of age and hasn’t spoke publicly about the case. According to Tech Banyan, Evan Chandler never approved of the friendship that his son had with Michael Jackson. Now that Michael Jackson has passed away, there is renewed interest in the case. Rumor has it that Jordan feels guilty and wants to come clean about the case – but that hasn’t happened officially yet (and probably never will.)
Ever since Michael Jackson’s death in June, the world has become obsessed with everything Michael. Even his worse adversaries during his 50 years of life have stepped forward and said great things of the late “King of Pop.” His larger-than-life presence in American music has lived on, and the documentary titled after his planned London concert series “This is It” has gotten rave reviews.
What saddens me about the whole situation surrounding Michael’s death is I really don’t think he knew how many people truly loved him. During his life he was bombarded with lots of drama, accusations, and was the butt of many inappropriate jokes. I hope the late “King of Pop” is looking down on us and realizing that millions and millions of people loved him.
Jackson Investigation Mystery Date
Posted Nov 18th 2009 3:43PM by TMZ Staff
Big clue in the Michael Jackson investigation — the LAPD detective leading the probe indicated January 18, 2010 may be a significant date.

Detective Orlando Martinez asked a Las Vegas judge this AM to keep search warrant documents related to Applied Pharmacy secret until January 18. Law enforcement sources told us previously cops didn’t want the warrant made public until the investigation was completed.
As we first reported, the LAPD believes Applied Pharmacy supplied Dr. Conrad Murray with the Propofol that ultimately killed Michael Jackson. They are on the hunt to make sure other pharmacies didn’t supply Propofol.

Janet Jackson — Family Interventions Failed
Posted Nov 18th 2009 9:00AM by TMZ Staff
According to Janet Jackson, her family had tried several times to stage interventions before Michael died of a drug overdose — but, obviously, they “weren’t very successful.”

In an interview with Robin Roberts, Janet talked about their attempts to get Michael clean, and though she says he understood “that it was out of love,” she added “people tend to be in denial.”
As we previously reported, Janet holds Dr. Murray responsible for killing her brother.

AEG to Murray: Go Pound Sand
Posted Nov 17th 2009 8:02PM by TMZ Staff
AEG will not pay Michael Jackson‘s troubled doctor a penny, sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported, Dr. Conrad Murray may sue AEG for $300,000 — the money he claims he’s entitled to under a contract he signed with AEG to provide MJ with medical services. But sources connected with AEG tell TMZ the contract was never signed.
We’re told a contract was drafted but it required three signatures — AEG, Michael Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray. Sources say Dr. Murray signed the contract and sent it to AEG but neither AEG nor MJ ever signed it.
The contract, we’re told, also said it expressly hinged on Jackson signing.
Sources say AEG is drawing a hard line. They will not pay Murray a penny.

MJ Estate Pounded by New Creditor’s Claim
Posted Nov 17th 2009 4:15PM by TMZ Staff
Get your currency converters out — the law firm that filed the latest creditor’s claim against Michael Jackson‘s estate wants to get paid in pounds.
The firm of Arnold & Porter — which has an office in London — just filed papers in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming MJ owes them for legal services rendered between February and June of ’09.
The total bill: £103,179.10.
And this is interesting: In the docs, it shows Michael initially hired the firm in connection with a “dispute with Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa” — the son of the King of Bahrain.
The sheikh sued Michael in 2008 for $7 million — after Michael allegedly accepted a bunch of money and perks from the sheikh in exchange for two new albums.
The case was settled shortly after.

Lawyer for MJ’s Mom: I Knocked Oxman Out!
Posted Nov 17th 2009 3:01PM by TMZ Staff
Katherine Jackson‘s lawyer, Adam Streisand, has really come out swinging today. He’s scoffing at Joe Jackson‘s lawyer, Brian Oxman, who filed legal papers last week attempting to get back into court to challenge Michael Jackson‘s will. Streisand says, “It was a first round knockout and there’s no getting up from it.”

Oxman claimed the will was a forgery and the executors were unfit. The judge in the estate case begged to differ so Oxman is going to the Court of Appeal. To that, Streisand says, “Oxman is going to need more than smelling salts and a new panel of judges to resuscitate his client’s surprise attack.”
Here’s his best line: “As far as I’ve been told, ’2012′ is just a fantasy.”

MJ’s Mom ‘Seriously Considering’ Suing Murray
Posted Nov 17th 2009 2:50PM by TMZ Staff
Katherine Jackson‘s attorney tells TMZ Michael Jackson‘s mom is “seriously considering” filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray.

Adam Streisand, who scored a victory for Katherine last week in the estate case, tells TMZ the case would be filed on behalf of Katherine and Michael’s three children. But Streisand adds, the biggest factor against filing suit is that Murray is asset-challenged — i.e., he can’t even pay his child support.
Streisand said he’s actually rooting for Dr. Murray to file a claim for wages against AEG, adding “At least then we’d have some money to take from him.”
As we first reported, Murray may sue AEG for $300,000 for the two months he “treated” MJ.

Janet Jackson — Don’t Let Murray Kill Again
Posted Nov 17th 2009 9:08AM by TMZ Staff
Janet Jackson doesn’t want Dr. Conrad Murray to continue practicing medicine — because she doesn’t want the man she holds “responsible” for her brother’s death to strike again on “someone else.”

In an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, Janet also said she doesn’t know if Murray was the only doctor hooking Michael up with drugs — but added “the truth always prevails.”

Dr. Murray Gunning for AEG
Posted Nov 17th 2009 1:05AM by TMZ Staff
Dr. Conrad Murray is setting the stage for a lawsuit against AEG for the medical services he rendered to Michael Jackson … according to Dr. Murray’s rep.

AEG owes Dr. Murray $300,000, according to Miranda Sevcik, publicist for Dr. Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff. Sevcik claims AEG has been “dragging its feet,” even though the Dr. has requested payment for 2 months of services.
Sevcik says Dr. Murray has not been paid a penny for his services, in spite of the fact that the doctor claims to have signed a binding deal with AEG before giving up his medical practice.
Sevcik says Dr. Murray will not file a creditor’s claim against Jackson’s estate. She says, “Dr. Murray needs the money and he’s entitled to the money based on the contract he signed with AEG.”
AEG could not immediately be reached for comment.

Dr. Murray to Appear in Court Today
Posted Nov 16th 2009 12:00PM by TMZ Staff
UPDATE 10:43 AM PT: Dr. Murray has arrived at court.
Dr. Conrad Murray will appear in court today … asking a judge to let him off the hook in his child support mess. His excuse — he’s broke … so TMZ has learned.
Dr. Murray is on the hot seat in Las Vegas for not paying child support in California … he’s more than $13,000 behind in support. Authorities in California went to Nevada — where Murray lives — asking to enforce the judgment.
The Nevada judge ordered Dr. Murray to pay and scheduled a court hearing for today.
We’re told Dr. Murray, along with his lawyer, Chris Aaron, will show at 11:30 AM PT. Dr. Murray will ask the judge to allow him to pay a minimal amount — $100. Aaron tells TMZ Murray has not been able to get a job since Michael Jackson died and has no money. Aaron says Dr. Murray is not running from his obligation — he has full intention of paying.

Throughout his career, Michael Jackson has spent a total of 51 weeks at #1 on the Billboard album chart. Only The Beatles and Elvis Presley have spent more weeks at the top. His last #1 was Invincible in 2001 although Thriller hit the top of the Billboard catalog album chart last October.

Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy Special New Exhibit at The Grammy Museum
On Oct. 27, 2009 The GRAMMY Museum unveiled its newest special exhibit, Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy. Residing on the Museum’s fourth floor, the exhibit serves as a follow-up to the earlier Michael Jackson: HIStyle exhibit, which opened in February 2009, and the temporary memorial display, erected just after the King of Pop’s passing.
“The overwhelming response to our earlier exhibits speaks to Jackson’s unparalleled place in music history and the public’s deep connection to his music,” said Executive Director Robert Santelli. “We’re excited to share even more of Jackson’s life and legacy with his fans and we hope it serves as a fitting tribute to one of the most significant entertainers in music history.”
Including Jackson’s trademark fedora and gloves, six elaborately embellished jackets, original lyrics, a Jackson 5 stage costume, and more, the exhibit will include additional artifacts never before exhibited in a museum. Across eight video monitors, visitors will also enjoy footage of Jackson’s appearances on the annual GRAMMY® Awards, as well as never-before-seen video of some of Jackson’s famous friends sharing their memories of him.
Perhaps the most exciting element, the exhibit will feature a new interactive experience which will allow visitors to dance on a floor of light-up tiles, mimicking Jackson’s own moves in the “Billie Jean” music video. Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy will remain on display through summer 2010.
Santelli and The GRAMMY Museum also curated Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition, the Arts and Exhibitions International exhibit opening at The O2 bubble in London today.
The GRAMMY Museum is located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Suite A245, Los Angeles, CA 90015. With an entrance off of Figueroa Street, the Museum resides within the L.A. LIVE campus, at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles.
